JOB PURPOSE
To operate as an autonomous, degree-qualified clinician delivering diagnostic audiology, personalised hearing technology prescriptions, and long-term auditory rehabilitation across our Kent clinics. All actions must strictly mirror HCPC standards and recognised British Society of Audiology (BSA) guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute advanced diagnostic hearing assessments (pure-tone audiometry with masking, tympanometry, and acoustic reflex testing) to BSA standards.
- Perform detailed otoscopy, interpret results, and formulate evidence-based management pathways.
- Identify clinical “red flags” and manage onward referral pathways to ENT specialists or GPs.
- Prescribe, fit, and program digital hearing technology based on individual patient needs using Real Ear Measurements (REMs) and objective verification.
- Deliver empathetic, continuing aftercare, tailored auditory rehabilitation programmes, and clinical micro-suction ear wax removal (where certified).
- Generate and preserve accurate, contemporaneous, and legally compliant electronic medical records while maintaining, calibrating, and sanitising specialized clinical instrumentation.
STATUTORY & COMPLIANCE MANDATES
- HCPC Boundaries: The postholder is legally barred from executing “controlled acts” (testing hearing or dispensing hearing aids in a private context) until independent HCPC registration is active.
- Information Governance: Full compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 to preserve absolute patient confidentiality across all networks.
- Safeguarding: Maintain strict safeguarding protocols for paediatric patient lines and vulnerable adults.
